Welcome to my Online Studio!
Phyllis is a traditional still life painter in the Old Master's Style. Each of her paintings is a one-of-a-kind original oil painting. She takes great delight in bringing together those common things we all know with bright colors that bring back memories for you, the viewer. Her goal is to bless you with color and memories.
Your art is gorgeous. I love traditional painting, finely done.
Your work I am drawn to is more personal. Such as the chokecherries that as a child I remember behind the house on the creek and laying on the lawn watching them sway in the sunlight.
I love my Phyllis Tag painting and am very proud of it. It makes me happy. It welcomes me home when I arrive.
As a traditional Still Life painter, Phyllis delights in using bold brush strokes and bright colors to make a Still Life come alive on her canvas. Her joy and energy is visible in her realistic oil paintings. Her works reflect the interplay of reflection as she takes the common things in your house or yard to bring back memories for you the viewer.
Phyllis began her journey with a great Art Teacher in High School. In 1975 she ventured into the world of oil painting under Western artist Sandy Ingersol. She was not able to go to art school but she took workshops to learn technique under artist as: Daniel Edmondson, Mark Ogle, Jack Hines, Joe Abbrescia, Marcia Ballowe, Jessica Zemsky, and Kelli Folsom. As she learned and painted her art evolved into a passion in Still Life painting in the traditional style of the Old Masters.
Phyllis was raised on a Montana Ranch. She and Richard never left Montana and raised their children outside Missoula where they could hunt, hike, camp, and enjoy Big Sky Country. After retiring she made her art into a business and now just enjoys painting. The joy of living in Montana brings lots of studio time during long winters
Phyllis has shown her work in many First Fridays in her home town Missoula as well as: Western Heritage Art show, Montana Professional Artist Ass., Cody Blue Buffalo and Bellevue Art Show to name a few. She has many collectors throughout the United States. She is now showing at the Out West Show each March in Great Falls, Mt., MPAA and Montana Arts Festival in Missoula.
“My goal is to bring back memories for the viewer with color and bold brush strokes that glorify the common things we all know and love. I want to leave a legacy of great paintings that give others joy and to be a Blessing in Color.”
